The International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) exists to facilitate the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and experiences between snow science researchers and practitioners. The motto of the International Snow Science Workshop is "A Merging of Theory and Practice". ISSW hosts a biennial conference in North America and Europe that brings together researchers and practioners from all over the world. ISSWs are geographically rotated between USA-Europe-Canada.
The next ISSW Conference, ISSW 2018, will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, USA. From October 7-12, 2018. The website is now online ,Visit the ISSW2018 website
ISSW 2020 has been awarded to Fernie, British Columbia, Canada to run from October 4th to 9th, 2020.
The right to host ISSW 2022 is open to sites within the United States. The right to host ISSW 2024 is open to sites in Europe. ISSWs are usually awarded 4 years in advance; however, proposal can be considered earlier. The right to host ISSW 2022 is open to sites within the US.

Summaries of the history of each ISSW are provided below, including archived versions of their websites from 1996 onward. All ISSW Papers and Abstracts are now available online. The ISSW Proceedings database project was a joint development effort of Montana State University Library Digital Collections and the ISSW Steering Committee.
